Ghost Signs

Hi all,

Bit of a delay since the last post, but my work life has had to take priority over the last few weeks!

Anyways, onto the subject of todays post: Ghost Signs

What on earth is a ghost sign?

The following definition is taken from www.ghostsigns.co.uk

Ghostsigns are the typically faded remains of advertising that was once painted by hand onto the brickwork of buildings.  They can be found in cities, towns and villages across the country advertising many different products and services, some familiar, some less so.

Over the last 5 years i’ve driven past these old, faded signs litterally hundreds of times but never really stopped to look at them, let alone photograph them. I think they are a facinating look into our commercial past and i’ll be keeping my eyes out for more when i’m out and about.

More of my photo’s of ghost signs are available to view on flickr.

If you would like to see some more examples of this dead art, ghostsigns.co.uk is a great resource.

Thanks

Gary
